COURSE OVERVIEW

Learn the full process.

This course is built around time on the equipment. Learners begin with the layout and signal flow of a DJ setup, then develop the listening and timing needed to cue tracks, match tempo, phrase transitions and organise a set.

All music styles are welcome. The goal is to leave with a recorded mix, better technical control and a practical understanding of how to prepare for club, radio, private-event or creative performance work.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Skills you can use.

  • Set up and check a DJ workstation correctly.
  • Understand beats, bars, phrasing, tempo and BPM.
  • Cue a track and use headphone monitoring confidently.
  • Use crossfades, blends and other transitions cleanly.
  • Beatmatch and structure a set with a clear flow.
  • Record and review a complete mix.
  • Understand the basic business and preparation behind paid DJ work.
COURSE STRUCTURE

Knowledge. Practice. Workplace experience.

Classes are presented in person on Saturdays and combine explanation, demonstrations and guided practical work. The campus and start date depend on the published intake timetable.

How progress is assessed.

An RMA short-course certificate is issued after the required attendance and assessment work has been completed successfully. This is a non-credit-bearing provider course, not a QCTO occupational qualification.
