The Sound Operator Training Program is intended to provide students with the information and training they need to function as professional Sound Operators in a variety of contexts, such as live performances, recorded productions, and broadcast events. This in-depth course will teach you the fundamentals of audio engineering, including how to set up your recording equipment, different recording methods, sound editing, mixing, enhancement, and amplification, as well as basic equipment maintenance. In addition, students will get fundamental training in business management to assist them in the growth of their careers in the linked world of electronic media.
Learners who successfully complete the Sound Operator Training Program will be able to perform the following tasks:
- Utilizing their understanding of audio theory and technique, they guarantee that the sound produced in a variety of production scenarios is of a high quality.
- Get the audio sound equipment ready for use by doing tasks such as setting it up, calibrating it, and resolving any issues that may arise.

- Elective 1 – Live events technical Production (Live Sound Engineering)
- Elective 2 – Recorded event technical Production (Studio, Radio, Broadcast Engineering)
- High school graduates who have completed Matric or
- Who have completed an education program equivalent to NQF Level 4 and are interested in working in the audio industry as sound operators.
OR
- People who have never had a job before and are looking for employment in the sound business that need little to no experience.
OR
- Workers already employed in the sector who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and advancing their careers.

The Learner will be subjected to both internal and external assessment. Internal assessments will encompass formative, summative, and workplace assessments. And upon successfully completing the comprehensive external summative assessment, learners will qualify for certification. The certification will be granted by the QCTO, affirming that the learner has attained the necessary competencies and is officially recognized as a qualified Sound Operator.

- Junior Sound Technicians: Intermediate level, responsible for operating and troubleshooting audio equipment.
